I was on my way down to open the shop last Sunday morning on Exmoor when I noticed a flash of white land in some long grass on the road next to me. I had an idea what it might be because I have seen them at this location before. I stopped the car grabbed the camera and leapt out of the car (well I actually fell out of the car because my gammy foot gave way!) hid behind a grassy bank and waited. Didn’t wait long before a beautiful Short Eared Owl took of in front of me. He spent over an hour ‘quartering’ the land right by me. Got some lovely close up shots, he actually flew right over my head several times! This is one of my favourite Owls I love the piercing eyes, fantastic colours and pattern of the plumage. What a great end to the morning, I also managed to get some close up shots of one of my favourite stag ‘Melvyn’ (my daughters name for him) bolving his head off.
